Winter Storm Elliott was a surprise this holiday weekend, bringing sub-zero temperatures across the nation. While Elliott's effects are over for the most part, we still need to think about protecting our pipes.
As temperatures rise and pipes begin to thaw, there's a potential for leaks or breaks. Prepare for potential issues with our tips.
To Thaw Frozen Pipes:
- Turn off your water: If pipes are frozen, shut off your water immediately. If you are unsure of how to turn off your water, please see our document here or call us at 877.987.2782.
- Thaw Pipes: Once your water is turned off, thaw pipes by applying warm air with a space heater or a hair dryer. Do not leave space heater unattended, and do not use kerosene heaters or open flames.
- Turn water back on: Once pipes are thawed, slowly turn water back on; and check pipes and joints for any cracks.
If you suspect your pipes have experienced a break and are leaking, please call us at 877.987.2782 to address the situation.
