Aqua Virginia Welcomes New Business Development Director Douglas R. Amos
Aqua Virginia announces the appointment of Douglas R. Amos as its new Director of Business Development. A seasoned industry executive with more than two decades in the water and wastewater sector, Amos brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership to the role.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Doug to the Aqua team,” said Aqua Virginia President John Aulbach. “His extensive experience and proven track record in business development and utility operations will be invaluable as we continue to expand our services and deliver high-quality water and wastewater solutions to our customers across Virginia.”
In his new role, Amos will identify water and wastewater systems that are considering selling their assets and can benefit from Aqua’s expertise in infrastructure modernization, water quality improvement, regulatory compliance and capital financing. He will lead the due diligence process, conduct financial analysis, negotiate acquisition terms and oversee the seamless integration of new systems into the Aqua Virginia network.
Amos joins Aqua with a proven track record of leading utility, engineering, environmental and mining companies. Most recently, he served as the program director overseeing operations, strategic planning and business development for Jacobs Solutions, delivering comprehensive water, sewer, irrigation and solid waste collection services for The Villages, FL. Prior to Jacobs, Amos held key roles at Victory of West Virginia, MS Consultants, and J.F. Allen Company. He also previously held Vice President/Chief Operating Officer position at West Virginia American Water and was the Vice President of Municipal Business Development at Veolia Water.
Amos received his bachelor’s degree from Fairmont State University. He holds several water and wastewater certifications, including drinking water certification, wastewater treatment works operator and certified laboratory technician. Throughout his career, he has also been an active member of several professional associations, including the American Water Works Association – West Virginia Section, where he served on the board of directors for six years, including a term as chairman.
He's an active member of his community, serving as a board member or volunteering for various organizations and foundations. He is also a private pilot and holds a commercial driver’s license.
