Water source switch and infrastructure upgrades ensure improved water quality, safety and reliability for Peotone residents
Aqua Illinois proudly announces the successful completion of a source water transition for the Village of Peotone, switching from groundwater to surface water from the Kankakee Water Treatment Plant. This change will provide residents with cleaner, better-tasting and more reliable water for everyday use.
Since 2018, Aqua Illinois has invested $13.9 million in upgrading Peotone’s water and wastewater infrastructure. These investments were made without increasing service costs to customers until the source water transition took effect. In addition to the water switch, Aqua also modernized the community’s water and wastewater systems.
“At Aqua, we are deeply committed to delivering exceptional water services and investing in the communities we serve,” said Aqua Illinois President Dave Carter. “These improvements are a reflection of that commitment, ensuring Peotone’s residents benefit from upgraded infrastructure that enhances water quality, reliability and safety.”
Carter added, “Our dedicated team worked closely with leading water quality experts and state and federal agencies to conduct rigorous water quality testing and ensure a seamless transition.”
Aqua’s infrastructure work contributes to the company’s overarching commitment to providing high-quality, reliable drinking water and safe wastewater solutions to customers.
